Kickin'Alice

Kickin' Alice was founded by Terry McKay. Terry's inspiration came from the work of American teams, 'The Fiddle Puppets' and 'The Green Grass Cloggers' during the late 1980's, and led to the first performance by Kickin' Alice in 1990.

With dancers from Shropshire and Herefordshire, Kickin' Alice perform all over the UK at a variety of venues, from Dance and Music Festivals, to street festivals and fetes. We provide a dynamic visual and sonic performance incorporating the percussive 'root' styles from the UK and Europe as well as the more modern American clogging.

Whilst our primary aim is to entertain, we also try to show an overview of aspects of the history and development of Appalachian dancing. As this will always be open to interpretation, we add to that tradition with our own individual touch of choreographed steps and styles

In 1998 a documentary was made for the BBC, filming Kickin' Alice's performances at Clogging and Music Festivals in Kentucky and North Carolina. The reaction of the American audiences was overwhelming!
